Only Human is theme music for “Finding Our Bootstraps: Americans Respond to Recession,” which airs at 8:00 pm, Wed. Jan. 20, on WUOM

Last summer, I put out a disc titled Pamplemousse Presse.  As is my habit, I saved mixes of all the tunes on the disc without vocals.  Just in case someone wanted to hear one of these gems without the old guy droning on about how lousy everything is.

It was the instruments-only version of Only Human, which hails from Pamplemousse, that caught the ear of one radio producer at WUOM late last year. “Finding Our Bootstraps: Americans Respond to Recession” explores how people are responding to these economic hard times. And while Only Human is not  Hard Time Killing Floor Blues, it does indeed chronicle the experiences of some old guy droning on about how lousy everything is.  So, despite the fact that the old guy is muted during the broadcast, there must be some kismet at work here.

  1. Thanks for changing the face (and ears) of Wednesday night. Here’s hoping next Wednesday brings yet another snippet of Presse and that it’s ‘A Long Slow Good-Bye’ before we miss you on a Wednesday night.

    Great start to 2010!
